Decade of scientific revolution

Around 3500 BC The journey of scientific invention which started with the wheel in India continues till today. During this time, all kinds of inventions are being done around the world which have contributed to change the subtlest aspects of our lives. The invention of the Internet in the 20th century gave a new direction to the path of computer revolution and covered almost the entire world in one room. The world of science has changed a lot in the last decade, scientific and technological innovation during this period has greatly influenced human life. In such a situation, it is necessary that we try to understand the changing nature of scientific development in the last 10 years.

Smart phone revolution

scientific revolution
  • The last decade has been very important from the perspective of smart phone revolution. In this period we have moved from feature phones to touch screen phones. Along with this, the prices of mobile phones have also seen a significant decrease.
  • Due to the decrease in phone prices, its demand has increased and today it has reached the general public around the world.
  • As compared to the year 2010, the features present in the mobile phones of the year 2020 have also significantly impacted our daily lives. Today our daily life is revolving around mobile phones.

3G to 5G

scientific revolution
  • The Internet revolution in the late 1990s greatly increased the demand for mobile Internet. The unprecedented success of the 2G network served as an inspiration for the creation of faster and more efficient mobile networks, which led to the discovery of 3G networks and the 3G network became popular with the general public since the early 2010s.
  • Now, with the beginning of the new decade, we have moved towards 5G network which gave people a great experience of using the Internet.
  • Internet data usage has also increased rapidly during this period. According to the ASSOCHAM report, India’s data consumption will increase by 72.6 percent to 10,96,58,793 million MB in the year 2022. If 5G arrives in India, this consumption of data may increase further.

Chance of life on Mars

artificial intelligence ai
  • NASA’s Curiosity Rover probe discovered the Rounded Pebbles shortly after landing on Mars on August 6, 2012, indicating that about three billion years ago this There were rivers on the planet.
  • Data related to high amount of methane in the air of Mars has been sent by NASA’s Curiosity Rover vehicle in the year 2019. On Earth, this gas is usually emitted by living organisms. Scientists consider this to be a sign of the presence of microorganisms on Mars.
  • In 2014, the Curiosity Rover vehicle discovered complex organic molecules, the basic elements of life.
  • In the year 2020, ‘Mars, 2020’ by the US and ‘Rosalind Franklin Rovers’ by Europe will be launched to discover the presence of microorganisms on Mars.

Gravitational waves

smart phone revolution
  • Gravitational waves were predicted in the theory of relativity by the great scientist Albert Einstein about 100 years ago. In the context of this prediction, these waves were first discovered on September 14, 2015, after research work for nearly 50 years.
  • About 1.3 billion years ago, a powerful collision of two Blackholes in the universe caused some waves moving at the speed of light, creating ocean-like waves in the entire universe. These waves are called gravitational waves.
  • The 2017 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to scientists searching for gravitational waves, Rainer Weiss, Barry C. Barish, and Kip S. Thip (Kip S. Thorne) was provided jointly and since then several types of gravitational waves have been detected.
  • The Capler mission, launched by NASA in 2009, has so far discovered more than 2600 planets outside our solar system. Such planets are called exoplanets.
  • Caplar’s successor mission ‘The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite-TESS’ was launched by NASA in 2018 to explore life outside our solar system.

Driverless car

gravitational waves
  • In the 2010s, many large companies around the world have achieved success in using a driverless car, with companies like Tesla and Google leading the way.
  • Using the Google Map and Artificial Intelligence (AI) through the Internet, these types of vehicles reach their destination without risk.
  • Analysts, however, believe that it will take some time to complete the project of driverless vehicles and it may take a long time in specific geographical areas such as India, where automated technology is less prevalent.
  • Apart from this, data security is also a big issue regarding driverless taxes.

Use of drone

  • The history of drones in the world is quite old, but a significant event in this context occurred in the year 2010 when a French company introduced the first ready-to-fly drone called Wi-Fi (Wi- Fi).
  • In 2014, Amazon introduced the idea of delivery via drone. At the same time, many construction companies were also using drones for their promotion.
  • The concept of air taxi is being considered as the second phase of the development of drones, through which people will get rid of the problem of traffic jam.
  • At present, air taxis are available in Bangalore, India. In view of the increasing use of drones in India, the government has also formulated a policy.

Discovery of various ancestors of human family

  • The early 2010s began with the discovery of an extinct species of the human family called Denisovans. This species was named ‘Denisovans’ because of the discovery in the Denisova cave in the Altai Mountains of Siberia.
  • Subsequently, in 2015, the remains of a human species named ‘Homo Naledi’ were discovered in South Africa.
  • Whereas in 2019, paleontologists classified another species found in the Philippines as a small-sized human species called Homo Luzonensis.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

scientific revolution
  • Companies such as Google, Microsoft are working for artificial intelligence (AI) based operating systems. With the help of AI, the use of robotics in our lives is increasing day by day.
  • Artificial intelligence is the activity by which machines are made intelligent and intelligence is the quality that enables an entity to function with proper foresight in its environment.
  • The decade of 2010 has been the beginning of machine learning.

The conclusion

The past decade has been a revolutionary era in terms of scientific inventions. During this period, there have been many inventions which have affected the ability of the common public to think, understand and make decisions. However, technology which is very beneficial in our everyday life can also adversely affect human civilization. It is expected that in the coming years, technology will also contribute to making human life more accessible.
